How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor

    Based: Burton office; Office based with travel around Nottingham, Derby, Staffordshire & Birmingham. Working 08:30 – 17:00 Monday – Friday

    ​Within our Social Housing planned refurbishment programs you will be delivering internal an external works within tenanted properties, you will work both from our office and on site, collaborating with your team in an environment that is inclusive and fair for everyone.

    You will work closely with the Operational team in Burton, covering contracts across the region. Typically working in live tenanted Social Housing properties, covering all aspects of refurbishments including roofing, kitchen and bathroom along with general project works. Your role is to obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials, and services for designated refurbishment/projects. Whilst liaising with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/contracts..

    An outline of your responsibility as a Quantity Surveyor

    * Monitor the contract progress, assess, and report any changes that may affect project costs and or time scale.

    * Liaise with Contract Managers to establish the project specification and requirements.

    * Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.

    * Assist in the control of contract budgets.​

    * Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast for designated projects.

    * Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the Client/Client’s representative.

    * Prepare monthly valuation reports

    * Submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.

    * Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or Clients/Customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.

    * Assist in the development of the procurement programme.

    * Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids, and tenders to demanding timescales.

    About You​

    You will have experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor ​preferably within the Social Housing sector, your expertise as a Surveyor will give you the knowledge to hit the ground running and contribute effectively to the team, as a person of knowledge and wealth of experience from the Commercial aspect in our sector. Attention to detail and great written and verbal communication skills will be essential to your success. And you will be an expert with IT with proficient MS office skills. You also must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as travel is a must with this role. The role will require a DBS check to be taken​
