Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear
Contract Type: Permanent / Full Time
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience

This is a fantastic opportunity to support our client’s growing finance function by maintaining financial accuracy, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring the smooth running of daily finance operations.

The Role – Assistant Accountant
In this varied and hands-on role, the Assistant Accountant will support core finance activities including:
* Assisting in weekly and monthly management accounts preparation
* Managing the sales ledger and supporting credit control
* Completing balance sheet reconciliations
* Handling accruals, prepayments and fixed asset processes
* Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
* Posting journals and daily bank receipts
* Preparing quarterly VAT returns
* Supporting internal and external audits
* Contributing to ad-hoc finance projects as needed
About You
We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant who brings:
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* AAT Qualified
* A solid understanding of accounting principles
* Proficiency using Excel and accounting systems
