How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal Structural Engineer

    Poole, Dorset

    Privately Owned Consultancy

    We are partnering with a well-established, privately owned engineering consultancy that delivers a diverse portfolio of projects across the South Coast. Their work spans multiple sectors including education, healthcare, retail, large-scale residential developments, and bespoke private homes.

    Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join their Poole-based team.

    The Role

    As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a range of complex projects. You will be responsible for leading structural design and analysis, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting the development of junior engineers.

    Key responsibilities include

    Leading the structural design and analysis of varied and complex projects
    Reviewing, approving, and finalising engineering calculations, drawings, and reports
    Acting as a key point of contact for clients, architects, and other stakeholders
    Providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior team members
    Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards
    Contributing to business development and maintaining strong client relationshipsAbout You

    Chartered or working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE)
    Proven experience in structural engineering across multiple sectors
    Strong technical expertise in design and analysis (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
    Experience leading projects and managing client relationships
    Excellent communication and leadership skills
    A proactive and collaborative approach
