How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We have an exciting opportunity for you to play a key role in the development and modernisation of Clean Water Infrastructure across the Thames Valley and surrounding areas.

    What you’ll be doing as a Construction Assurance Engineer
    You’ll play an integral role in construction assurance across wastewater projects, working collaboratively with project teams and contractors to support safe, compliant and successful delivery.

    Key responsibilities include:
    Supporting design and delivery assurance activities, helping to identify risks and working constructively with stakeholders to resolve them.
    Carrying out health and safety audits, ensuring standards are met and improvements are embedded.
    Monitoring construction progress, reporting on performance, and supporting issue resolution and escalation when needed.
    Identifying, managing and closing non‑conformances in line with agreed processes.
    Managing snags and supporting defect resolution, aftercare and performance testing post‑takeover.
    Monitoring, agreeing and approving takeover testing with the wider project team.
    Ensuring project documentation is complete, accurate and meets Thames Water specifications.
    Working as a valued member of one or more project teams, building strong relationships with contractors and operational colleagues.Hybrid – Thames Valley Based
    This is a hybrid role, with regular site presence across the Thames Valley.

    On site 3–4 days per week
    36 hours per week, Monday to FridayA full UK driving licence and access to a car are required.

    A £4,500 annual car allowance is provided.

    What you should bring to the role
    If you have many — but not necessarily all — of the following, we encourage you to apply:
    An HNC (or above) in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in a similar construction or assurance role.
    An awareness of health and safety in construction environments. (SMSTS training can be supported if you don’t currently hold it.)
    Experience or understanding of design, construction and operational delivery within utilities, infrastructure or construction settings.
    Background in project delivery or integration within a construction environment.
    Confidence communicating with stakeholders, with the ability to collaborate, challenge constructively and build trust.What’s in it for you?

    Competitive salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum
