How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £24,000 - £29,500 per annum (Pro-rata / Term-time only)

    The Role

Are you a dedicated Youth Worker looking to bring your expertise into the heart of a secondary school? We are seeking a dynamic and resilient Youth Worker to join our Blackpool-based secondary school team for the 2026/27 academic year.

Moving beyond the community centre, you will work directly within the school environment to bridge the gap between academic education and personal development. You will be a relatable role model, supporting students aged 11-16 to overcome barriers to learning, raise their aspirations, and manage their social and emotional well-being.

    Key Responsibilities

Mentorship & Intervention: Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions for students identified as vulnerable or at risk of exclusion.

Classroom Support: Bring youth-work energy into the classroom to assist with behaviour management and student engagement.

Program Delivery: Plan and facilitate workshops on topics such as healthy relationships, social skills, and emotional resilience.

Pastoral Collaboration: Work closely with the school's Pastoral Leads and SENCo to ensure holistic support for every student.

    What We're Looking For

Experience: Significant experience working with teenagers (aged 11-16) in youth clubs, alternative provision, or sports coaching.

Resilience: A "Blackpool-strong" attitude you must be able to remain calm, firm, and empathetic in high-pressure situations.

Communication: Exceptional active listening and counselling-style skills to build rapport with complex or disengaged students.

Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 in Youth Work Practice (JNC recognised) or a related field (e.g., Social Work, Careers Guidance) is highly desirable.

Commitment: Available to commit to the full academic year from September 2026 to July 2027.

    Why Choose This Role?

Predictable Schedule: Term-time only hours (08:30 - 15:00), allowing you to enjoy all school holidays.

Professional Growth: Gain invaluable experience for those considering future careers in teaching, social work, or educational psychology.

Community Impact: Directly influence the life chances of young people in the Blackpool community.
