How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    General Foreman – Major Infrastructure Project

    Location: Birmingham / West Midlands

    Rate: Negotiable (DOE) + Package / Lodge Available

    Job Type: Contract

    Red Sky Personnel are working alongside a well-established civil engineering contractor self-delivering works on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure schemes. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced General Foreman to support the delivery of works on a major infrastructure package in the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading contractor working on a nationally significant project involving complex civil engineering and infrastructure works.

    The Role

    The General Foreman will oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme and quality requirements.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Supervising gangs and subcontractors across earthworks and groundworks activities

    Managing daily site operations to ensure programme targets are met

    Coordinating plant, labour and materials effectively

    Delivering works in line with specifications, drawings and quality standards

    Conducting toolbox talks, briefings and ensuring workforce engagement

    Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress to site management

    Driving productivity and resolving on-site issues proactively

    Ensuring strict adherence to health & safety standards, including PPE, site procedures and workforce compliance

    Requirements

    Proven experience working as a General Foreman / Foreman on civil engineering or infrastructure projects

    Strong background in earthworks, groundworks, drainage and infrastructure packages

    SSSTS or SMSTS certification

    Gold CSCS Card (Supervisor)

    Strong leadership and man-management skills

    Ability to read and interpret drawings and method statements

    Experience working on major infrastructure or Tier 1 contractor projects beneficial

    Excellent communication and organisational skills
