How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design Technology Technician

    Location: Wandsworth
    Pay: £95 - £115 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent
    Start Date: 27th April 2026
    Commutable from: Lambeth, Merton, Richmond, Kingston, and Southwark.

    Long Term Futures is working with a Wandsworth school on a full-time DT Technician role. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a dynamic Design and Technology department. Starting on 27th April 2026, you will be responsible for the preparation of materials, maintenance of workshop machinery, and providing technical support during practical lessons. This position runs until the end of the Summer term, with a potential permanent contract on offer for the right candidate.

    The school is a vibrant and forward-thinking educational institution located in the heart of Wandsworth. They pride themselves on a robust creative arts and technology curriculum, offering students access to modern workshops and high-quality equipment to specialise in various design disciplines.

    Responsibilities

    Preparing and organising equipment and materials for DT lessons, including wood, plastics, and metals.
    Maintaining and cleaning workshop machinery and hand tools to ensure they are in safe working order.
    Supporting teaching staff during practical lessons to assist students with technical tasks.
    Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring the department remains within budget.
    Carrying out regular health and safety checks and specialising in maintaining COSHH records.

    Essential Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience working as a DT Technician or in a similar workshop-based role.
    Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment.
    Proficiency in using and maintaining workshop machinery (e.g., band saws, circular saws, CAD/CAM).
    Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
    An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
