How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Field Service / Workshop Engineer
    Location: Hull
    Salary: £35,000 to £39,000 

    Consortium Professional Recruitment are pleased to be working with a progressive and expanding engineering business based in Hull to recruit a Field Service / Workshop Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company investing in innovation, continuous improvement and long term development of its people.

    The successful Field Service / Workshop Engineer will split their time between the workshop and customer sites, assembling, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. You will be supported by experienced specialists while gaining exposure to varied and technically interesting projects in a collaborative and forward thinking environment.

    The Opportunity:

    As a Field Service / Workshop Engineer you will play a key role in:

    Building prototype and early production machines while improving assembly processes and design efficiency
    Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using drawings and technical documentation
    Travelling to customer sites across Yorkshire and occasionally further afield to carry out servicing and repairs
    Communicating professionally with operators and managers, acting as a trusted ambassador for the business
    Your work will directly contribute to product quality, customer satisfaction and ongoing engineering improvements.
    About You:

    We are looking for someone who can bring:

    A clean UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel to different customer sites
    Ideally a multi-skilled approach and have both electrical and mechanical fault finding skills 
    A general understanding of how to use a multi meter and interpret readings confidently
    Basic experience using mechanical hand tools and working on engineered systems
    Good knowledge of common electrical components such as fuses, relays, switches, diodes, motors and solenoids
    An understanding of hydraulic principles including pumps, valves and cylinders
    A strong respect for health and safety, good time management skills and genuine pride in workmanship
    You will also demonstrate a keen interest in engineering, a proactive mindset and the confidence to represent the business professionally in the field. The Benefits and Package:
