How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Field Service and Calibration Engineer - Materials Testing

    Materials Testing & Load Cell Systems - South West England

    Bristol, Gloucester, Swindon, Bath

    £35,000 - £45,000 Basic Salary + Vehicle + Benefits + Bonus

    Are you an experienced service engineer on materials testing equipment or load cell integrated systems?
    Or do you have knowledge of materials testing in a lab and looking to get into a field service role?Read on for the opportunity to join this organisation; a prestigious, respected company. A place where you can grow and develop.

    Your Role as a Field Service and Calibration Engineer:

    You'll be field based, predominantly covering a region but with further UK travel as needed.
    You will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of this testing equipment and instrumentation.
    Examples include impact, tensile, universal, fatigue, stress, or torsion testing.
    You will be working within a variety of appealing manufacturing sectors including the aerospace, automotive, and medical industries, amongst others.
    You will play an important role in ensuring the equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained to UKAS standards.
    Compile detailed reports as appropriate.
    The field-based nature of the role will require nights away from home; on average of 1 - 2 per week.Ideal Background for the Field Service and Calibration Engineer:

    Knowledge of one of the following is essential:
    Materials Testing equipment, either as a current service engineer, or as somebody using the machinery in a lab. Specifically on impact, tensile, universal, fatigue, stress, or torsion testing.
    Service and calibration knowledge of load cells and connected systems such as checkweighers, weighbridges, or similar.
    A strong engineering understanding is essential in mechanical, electrical, and fluid disciplines.
    Approachable, honest, and a team player.
    Strong IT and communication skills.
