How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Assistant Engineer – New Build Housing
    📍 Midlands / Site & Office Based
    💰 £30,000 – £40,000 per year + Benefits
    🕒 Full-time | Permanent

    Overview
    We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Engineer to join a growing team delivering new build residential housing developments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within the housebuilding sector while gaining hands-on experience supporting the engineering and technical delivery of residential projects.

    Working alongside senior engineers and technical teams, you will assist with the coordination and management of engineering aspects of housing developments from design through to construction.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Assist with the engineering design and delivery of new build housing developments

    *

    Support the coordination of drainage, highways, and infrastructure designs

    *

    Liaise with consultants, contractors, and local authorities

    *

    Assist with obtaining technical approvals including S38, S104, and S278 agreements

    *

    Review engineering drawings, technical information, and design documentation

    *

    Monitor progress of infrastructure works on site

    *

    Support with resolving technical and engineering issues during construction

    *

    Maintain project documentation and engineering records

    Requirements

    *

    Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (or working towards)

    *

    Previous experience or placement within residential construction, housebuilding, or civil engineering preferred

    *

    Basic understanding of drainage, highways, and infrastructure design

    *

    Strong organisational and communication skills

    *

    Ability to work collaboratively with technical and site teams

    *

    Proficient in Microsoft Office (AutoCAD knowledge beneficial)

    *

    Full UK driving licence desirable
