How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute professional with a proven background in Tier 1 construction environments to take on a senior leadership role within a growing regional team.

    The Role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take overall commercial responsibility for two major projects in South Wales, with values of approximately £100m and £30m.
You will lead and support a team of Senior Quantity Surveyors on each site, ensuring strong commercial performance, effective cost control, and contractual compliance across both schemes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee the commercial management of multiple large-scale construction projects
    • Lead, mentor, and manage Senior Quantity Surveyors and wider commercial teams
    • Ensure accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cost control
    • Protect and enhance the company’s commercial position across all contracts
    • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
    • Contribute to strategic commercial decisions at a regional level

    Requirements

    • Proven experience working for Tier 1 or major main contractors
    • Strong background in general construction (not solely housebuilding)
    • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale, high-value projects
    • Previous experience in a leadership or managing QS role
    • Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
    • Strong leadership and communication skills

    What’s on Offer

    • Competitive salary of £70,000 – £80,000
    • Company car or car allowance
    • Opportunity to work on high-profile, complex projects
    • Clear career progression within a leading contractor
