How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    AR851 – Quality Controller

    Location: Leominster

    Salary: £30,000

    Overview:

    First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Quality Controller on behalf of one of our clients.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products and processes meet the required quality standards. You will carry out inspections, testing, and quality checks across raw materials, in-process components, and finished goods, ensuring full compliance with company and industry standards. This is a key role in maintaining product integrity, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring consistent quality across operations.

    Our client strongly encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Inspection and testing – Carrying out inspections of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications. Identifying defects, deviations, or non-conformances and taking appropriate action.
    Documentation and reporting – Accurately recording inspection results, test data, and quality metrics. Producing reports to highlight trends, support root cause analysis, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
    Corrective and preventive actions – Investigating quality issues, working with Production and Engineering teams to identify root causes, and implementing corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
    Equipment maintenance – Ensuring all inspection and testing equipment is correctly maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose.
    Compliance and standards – Ensuring all processes and products comply with relevant industry regulations, company standards, and quality requirements.
    Training and collaboration – Supporting and training production teams on quality standards and best practices, promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
    Skills and Qualifications:

    Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
    Understanding of quality control principles and methodologies (e.g. ISO standards, Six Sigma)
    Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
    Good communication and teamwork skills
    Proficient in data recording and reporting
    Ability to identify and resolve quality issues effectively
    Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities
