How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our busy Workshop Team at our Lockerbie site. This role supports the repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of our walking floor, tipper, chipliner, and timber fleet.

    About the Role

    * Hourly Rate: £18.00 – £20.00 per hour for 8 hours per day.

    * Overtime: Hours worked beyond 8 hours per day are paid at time and a half.

    * Hours of work: 8:00 – 16:30 Monday - Friday.

    * Weekend Work: Occasional Saturdays will be required; additional overtime may be available on request when levels of work allow.

    * Pension: Company pension scheme provided.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out welding and fabrication tasks (MIG/TIG).

    * Perform repair and refurbishment work on walking floor, tipper, chipliner, and timber fleet.

    * Assist with general maintenance of commercial vehicles and trailers.

    * Work with hydraulics and electrical components where necessary.

    * Maintain workshop housekeeping and adhere to all Health & Safety procedures.

    * Use workshop tools and equipment safely and correctly.

    * Report hazards, defects, or safety concerns to the Workshop Manager.

    Qualifications / Experience

    * Experience in welding and fabrication (MIG/TIG).

    * Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team.

    * Strong attention to detail and high standards of execution of tasks.

    * Experience working with commercial vehicles is beneficial.

    * Full UK Driving licence preferred.
