How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Overview

    A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is looking for an experienced LGV Mechanic / HGV Technician to join our busy workshop team in Runcorn. This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial vehicle maintenance experience and a passion for keeping a modern fleet operating safely and efficiently.

    * £18.00–£20.00 per hour (based on experience)

    * Overtime paid at time and a half after 8 hours

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out repair, service, and maintenance work on LGVs, HGVs, trailers, walking‑floor trailers, tippers, chipliners, and timber fleet.

    * Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems.

    * Conduct routine inspections to ensure legal compliance and roadworthiness.

    * Assist with the general upkeep, service, and refurbishment of commercial vehicles.

    * Maintain high standards of workshop housekeeping, following all Health & Safety procedures.

    * Use workshop tools and equipment correctly and safely.

    * Report defects, hazards, or safety concerns to the Workshop Manager promptly.

    Skills & Experience Required

    * City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in LGV / HGV Maintenance & Repair – minimum requirement.

    * Proven experience as an HGV Technician, LGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Fitter, or Fleet Mechanic.

    * Strong mechanical knowledge with attention to detail.

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    * Experience working on commercial vehicles is highly desirable.

    * Full UK driving licence preferred.
