Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Ilminster, based between two sites (with very occasional nationwide travel)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 (Hours may vary dependant on business needs)
Employment Type: Full-Time, permanent
Salary: Competitive, DOE

About the Role

An established organisation is seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support the ongoing reliability and efficiency of its operations. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and improving mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out routine maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery

* Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs

* Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules

* Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements

* Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

* Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

* Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams

Requirements

* Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role

* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

* Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ, or equivalent)

* Basic electrical skills

Desirable Skills

* Experience within manufacturing or industrial environments

* Basic knowledge of PLC systems

* Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques
