How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior M&E Engineer

    Our customer are a well respected M&E Consultancy operating across the UK, dealing with a host of customers within commercial property and real estate sectors. Due to growth within their London Engineering team, they currently seek a Senior Engineer to work across customers across Central London and some related travel to Greater London / Home Counties when necessary. Guideline salary for this position is circa £60-65,000 basic salary, with standard benefits including pension and private healthcare. 

    Role will involve liaising with real estate organisations, managing agents, FM service providers to deliver building services engineering and energy / building performance solutions within the commercial markets in collaboration with Associate members and in support of the larger organisation. This will relate to industry standards, guidance and best practice and help show an understanding of how buildings are designed, operated and ultimately used to deliver solutions to their clients challenges. 

    Working as part of their multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy team, the successful candidate will need to be a self-starter and enjoy a healthy amount of autonomy with regards to task and workload. Attention to detail, report writing ability and communication skills are all important. Along with soft skills, a strong working knowledge of the following is crucial: 

    Heating systems
    Cooling systems
    HV systems
    LV systems
    Lighting systems
    Power distribution systems 
    Ventilation systems
    Control systems
    Domestic Water systems
    Fire systems
    Air conditioning systems
    Water Hygiene of Closed and Domestic Systems
    Compliance – Statutory / Regulatory / Codes / Building RegulationsSome of the expected day-to-day tasks will include: 

    Technical investigations and root cause analysis.
    Design reviews and defects analysis.
    Feasibility studies.
    Writing technical reports and specifications.
    Interpreting engineering reports, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
    Technical project management.
    Interrogation the performance of engineering systems and assets to identify solutions to improve performance, reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
    Interrogation of control systems to identify system performance issues and optimisation opportunities.
    Produce Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) plans.
    Produce engineering life cycle and forward capital cost plans.
    Undertake engineering maintenance contract monitoring and auditing.
    Conduct on site engineering services inspections and reporting for due diligence and dilapidations.
    Undertake maintenance procurement to include asset collection and preparation and review of tender documentation. Working as part of a team to meet project briefs and programme requirements.
    Lead a M&E team in the co-ordination and delivery of individual projects, including attendance at meetings, internal programming, project reviews etc.
    Undertake constructive peer reviews of other projects.
    Demonstrate a wide knowledge and relevant experience of mechanical and electrical systems across a range of sectors and the ability to report on both mechanical and electrical disciplines during meetings, etc
    Manage and mentor engineers.
    Act as the ‘Subject Matter Expert’ within the team in specialist areas of competence.
    Understanding our Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and QA procedures and see that these are adhered to at all steps for all projects.
    Commit to supporting the company’s strategic sustainability policies and the internal environmental programme objectives. Be accountable for the operational and financial management of projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
    Attend networking and business development events as required to promote the business.  

    Qualifications & Training: 

    Circa 10 Years experience working within the commercial building services industry
    Fully Qualified in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
    Hold a Professional Membership of at least one relevant industry body which might include CIBSE/RICS/IWFM/IMechE/IET, etc.
    Management / implementation of building safety and regulations to BSRIA, CIBSE standardsPossess a BSc/BA or higher; ILM Level 6 or higher or equivalent
