Class 1 Driver

Join Gi Group and work with one of the UK's leading supermarkets. We are looking for drivers to join our team on a temporary contract, offering ongoing work 12 months per year for the right candidate.

Please note - there may be alcohol and meat deliveries involved in this role

Class 1 Driver - Rates of Pay:

Days (06:00-14:00)

Week 1 - £19.05 per hour & overtime at £26.56 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Week 12 - £19.47 per hour & overtime at £27.14 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Week 27+ - £19.94 per hour & overtime at £27.61 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Afternoons (14:00-22:00)

Week 1 - £20.78 per hour & overtime at £28.29 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Week 12 - £21.23 per hour & overtime at £28.91 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Week 27+ - £22.38 per hour & overtime at £30.05 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Nights (22:00-06:00)

Week 1 - £22.34 per hour & overtime at £29.84 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Week 12 - £22.83 per hour & overtime at £30.50 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

Week 27+ - £23.89 per hour & overtime at £31.56 per hour (adv holiday pay PAYE)

- Pay excluding holiday pay per hour also available.

- Overtime is paid after 45 hours +

- Monthly Performance Bonus available

- Bank Holidays: Double (£38.10-£47.78 per hour)!

Class 1 Driver - Shifts and Hours:

· Various start time windows available: (03:00-06:00am, 13:00-18:00pm & 19:00pm-02:00am)

· Shifts available 7 days a week

· ADHOC work also available

· 10-12 hours per day on average

· Minimum of 8 hours paid on every shift

· No pre-planned nights out

Assessment Days:

· No pre-planned nights out

Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire (MK43)

This role is commutable from: Bedford, Milton Keynes, Dunstable, Luton, Hitchin, Biggleswade, Shuttleworth, Bletchley, Northampton, Wellingborough, Rushden, Huntingdon and the other surrounding areas.

Class 1 Driver - The Role:

· Working for a leading supermarket chain, drivers will be responsible for delivering groceries to supermarkets and petrol station shops.

· A usual shift will consist of 1-3 store deliveries, helping to tip both pallets and cages.

· Candidates MUST be able to work on the weekend.

· Candidates MUST be happy to drive Class 1 & Class 2 vehicles (paid at Class 1 rate)

· Ensure accurate completion of documentation

· Perform vehicle checks and report any defects

· Work efficiently to meet deadlines

· Please note there maybe alcohol deliveries involved in this role

Class 1 Driver - the perfect candidate will have:

· Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) license + Driver CPC & DIGI Cards

· Will hold a UK Driving Licence, Tachograph & CPC Card

· Minimum 6 months Class 1 license + 6 months Class 1 driving experience

· Previous experience in store deliveries would be preferred, but is not essential

· Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR, IN or DD offences)

· Will be over 22 years of age for insurance purposes

· Will be flexible and remain calm under pressure

· Will have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail
