Job Overview
We are currently recruiting an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join a high‑precision engineering manufacturer based in the Preston area. This is a long‑term opportunity offering excellent pay, overtime, and flexible day or night shift options, with the role moving from temporary to permanent for the right candidate.
This position would suit a skilled machinist with a strong background in precision manufacturing, capable of working to tight tolerances in a quality‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and program CNC milling machines
Produce high‑precision components in line with engineering drawings and specifications
Carry out tool setting, offset adjustments, and job prove‑out
Perform first‑off and in‑process quality inspections using precision measuring equipment
Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and housekeeping
Identify and resolve machining or process issues to minimise downtime
Work collaboratively within a production and engineering team to meet output targets
Candidate Requirements
Time‑served apprenticeship in CNC machining
OR
Significant experience working within a high‑precision manufacturing environment (aerospace or similar)
Strong hands‑on experience operating CNC milling machines
Ability to work to tight tolerances and exacting quality standards
Confident reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings
Self‑motivated, reliable, and detail‑focused
Willingness to work either day or night shifts
