How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CLC, part of Axis CLC, is a national maintenance and refurbishment provider with over 1,000 employees and 13 UK offices. We support clients across the healthcare, defence, leisure, heritage, commercial and education sectors, delivering essential building services. As part of the Axis CLC group, backed by over 110 years of combined experience across the organisation, we offer responsive repairs, planned maintenance, compliance, decarbonisation and refurbishment solutions nationwide.

    We’re looking for a Divisional Manager to lead our North East Division, based in Morpeth, reporting to the Regional Director - North.

    This is a senior leadership role responsible for the operational and commercial performance of the division. You will lead teams to deliver safe, high-quality services to clients, while driving profitability and aligning with the strategic goals of the business.

    Working across a diverse portfolio including property maintenance, compliance and planned works, you will play a key role in the continued growth of the region and the wider Axis CLC group.

    What You’ll Do

    * Lead and manage the operational performance of the North East Division, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and quality standards

    * Drive commercial performance, ensuring profitability and accurate financial reporting across all contracts

    * Ensure all operations comply with legal, statutory and health & safety requirements, promoting a proactive safety culture

    * Develop and implement business and operational plans aligned to regional and group strategy

    * Identify and secure new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

    * Oversee resource planning, recruitment and workforce development to meet operational demands

    * Lead, develop and motivate teams, ensuring high performance and strong staff engagement

    * Maintain effective communication across departments, ensuring alignment and information flow

    * Work closely with commercial and finance teams to ensure accurate valuations, reporting and risk management

    * Represent the business at client meetings and internal management forums

    * Monitor performance, manage risks and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

    About You

    You’re an experienced senior leader within the construction or property maintenance sector, with strong commercial awareness and a track record of delivering operational excellence.

    You’re comfortable leading large teams, managing client relationships and driving business growth, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and performance.

    Requirements

    * Extensive experience in commercial contract management with strong financial understanding

    * Proven experience within construction, property maintenance or compliance sectors

    * Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business performance drivers

    * In-depth knowledge of property maintenance, compliance and planned works

    * Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience developing high-performing teams

    * Excellent client and stakeholder management skills

    * Ability to identify and secure new business opportunities

    * Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills

    * Resilient, proactive and able to operate autonomously

    * Relevant industry qualifications (e.g. Degree or HNC in Project Management, Quantity Surveying or similar) preferred
