Laser / Waterjet Machine Operator
Location: East Lancashire
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laser / Waterjet Machine Operator to join an established manufacturing operation in the East Lancashire area.
This position is suited to a technically competent operator with proven experience in profile cutting operations within a production-led environment.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of laser and/or waterjet cutting machinery, producing components in line with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC-controlled laser and/or waterjet cutting machines in accordance with process documentation and work instructions
Load, position, and unload raw materials and finished components using approved handling methods
Set up jobs and monitor cutting parameters to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality
Interpret and work from engineering drawings, cutting lists, and technical specifications
Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to verify conformity to quality standards
Identify faults, monitor machine performance, and escalate technical issues where required
Perform routine checks, basic preventative maintenance, and housekeeping duties
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and manufacturing standards at all times
Work to defined production targets while maintaining precision and repeatability
Technical Requirements
Previous hands-on experience operating laser or waterjet profile cutting machinery
Competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and accuracy
Understanding of CNC machining principles and cutting processes
Familiarity with manufacturing health & safety procedures
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working with CNC-controlled cutting systems
Basic machine setting and/or programming capability
Forklift truck licence (desirable but not essential)
