How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Managing Quantity Surveyor - Major Energy Infrastructure | West London | Up to £90k + Package

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK's most respected and financially robust infrastructure contractors - a business with an extensive track record of delivering complex, high-profile projects across the energy, transportation and water sectors in the UK and abroad. With a multi-billion pound order book and operations spanning Europe, North America and Australia, this is a contractor that offers genuine long-term career progression and exposure to an exciting, varied pipeline of projects.

    The Project
You'll be joining at the very beginning of what will become one of the most significant energy infrastructure projects in the UK. This is a landmark £400m+ scheme within the power transmission sector - a nationally critical development that will directly enable the country's digital and energy infrastructure growth for decades to come. Construction is mobilising later this year with a programme running through to 2029, followed by a further two-year commissioning phase. With this level of scale and complexity, your mark on this project will be visible for a long time.

    The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll take full commercial ownership of a £200m civils portfolio - a genuinely varied and technically interesting scope that includes construction of an access road, a bridge, bulk earthworks, deep drainage, multiple concrete structures and a large steel-framed building. You'll lead a team of 4-5 surveyors of varying experience levels, developing capability across the team while maintaining the commercial rigour that a flagship scheme demands.

This is a site-based role with a hybrid arrangement (3-4 days on site, 1-2 days remote), giving you the autonomy to manage your team and deliverables without being permanently tied to a desk.

    What You'll Be Doing

Taking full commercial responsibility for a £200m civils package portfolio from inception through to final account
Leading, mentoring and developing a team of 4-5 surveyors
Managing subcontract procurement, letting and administration across a complex, multi-package scope
Driving CVR reporting, cost forecasting and commercial performance
Engaging with the client and supply chain at a senior level to manage risk, change and dispute proactively
Ensuring robust commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle
    What We're Looking For

An experienced MQS or Senior QS ready for the step up, with a strong civils background - earthworks, drainage, structures and/or groundworks experience within a main contracting environment will be of particular interest
Proven ability to manage and develop a commercial team in a site-based environment
Sound knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC preferred)
Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment and takes pride in leading from the front
MRICS or working towards it is advantageous but not essential
    The Package

    Starting salary up to £90,000
£8,000 car allowance or company car
27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    Private healthcare (including family cover)
    Private pension contributions
    Discretionary bonus
Hybrid working (3-4 days on site / 1-2 days remote) - 45hr working week
This is a genuine flagship appointment on a project of national significance, with a contractor that has the scale, stability and ambition to match. If you want to lead a commercial team on something that matters - get in touch today.
