How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Security Systems Engineer | Rotherham / Sheffield / Barnsley | £36,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)

    We are seeking an experienced Security & Fire Systems Engineer to join a growing team, covering the Rotherham, Sheffield and Barnsley areas. This role is primarily focused on security systems, including servicing, maintenance, fault finding and small works installations across CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems.

    Experience within fire detection and alarm systems is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and versatile engineer who takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service across both security and fire disciplines.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Service, maintain and fault-find on security systems (CCTV, intruder alarms, access control)

    * Carry out small works installations, system upgrades and modifications

    * Diagnose faults and complete remedial works efficiently

    * Ensure all works comply with relevant British Standards and industry regulations

    * Accurately complete service reports and associated documentation

    * Liaise with clients on-site and provide technical advice where required

    * Support fire alarm system servicing, maintenance and small works where required

    * Participate in call-out rota where applicable

    Essential Requirements

    * Proven experience working with security systems (CCTV, intruder alarms, access control)

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

    * Good understanding of relevant security industry standards

    * Full UK driving licence

    * Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

    * Excellent communication and customer-facing skills

    Desirable (Advantageous)

    * Experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable)

    * Knowledge of BS 5839 and fire industry standards

    * FIA qualifications or equivalent

    * Experience with a range of manufacturers across both security and fire systems
