How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Shifts available: Monday – Friday Days, 4o4o days, nights and tramping.

Do you want to be a valued part of the critical infrastructure that serves communities across Europe and beyond? Are you looking for a position in which you can keep things moving and deliver when it matters most? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as a Class 1 Driver.

Be part of the movement – and play your part.

    About the role

We’re looking for a reliable and experienced Class 1 Driver to join our growing transport team. Based out of Immingham Docks, this role offers the flexibility to choose between general haulage or fridge work, depending on your experience and preference.

You’ll be collecting ferry trailers and delivering to customer sites across the UK. General haulage includes loads like giant paper rolls, used to make cardboard boxes for home deliveries, while fridge work involves transporting temperature-sensitive goods that require careful monitoring and timely delivery. Both options involve tipping, reloading, and returning to the docks, helping keep vital supply chains moving.

Timely collections and deliveries across the UK

Safe transport of goods using curtainsider or refrigerated trailers

(For fridge work) Monitoring and maintaining correct trailer temperatures

Daily vehicle checks and defect reporting

Accurate record-keeping of deliveries and driving hours

Compliance with all road safety and transport regulations

    About You

You’re a professional Class 1 Driver who takes pride in doing the job right. Whether your background is in general haulage, fridge work, or both, you’re thorough with vehicle checks, safety-conscious, and confident working independently.

You’re up to date with your CPC, DIGI card, and driving hours, and you bring a customer-first attitude to every job. Experience with ferry trailers or dockside operations is a bonus.

This role is ideal for someone seeking steady, well-organised work with a supportive transport team.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.

    Working at DFDS

Join the movement and grow with us.

We’ll support you on your journey and create the conditions that make it worthwhile.

We’ll encourage you to challenge yourself, to acquire new skills and attributes. We want you to develop and progress within your career. At DFDS, we believe that development happens first and foremost through activities in the workplace, and we've developed training courses to support you.

At DFDS Killingholme, we offer on-site CPC training delivered by our own expert team – and yes, you’ll be earning while you learn.

Start your journey with us, build your skills, and grow your career – all while on the job.

Now about what we can give you. You’ll be able to access some fantastic benefits such as:

    Life assurance cover

    Contributory company pension scheme

    Holiday Purchase Scheme

Free ferry travel for up to 4 guests between Dover and Calais / Newcastle and Amsterdam with no limit on trips
