Senior Electrical Design Engineer Overview
My client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a building services background to join their design team. This role is suited to someone capable of working independently within a contracting environment, delivering detailed electrical building services designs across commercial and industrial projects.
The position involves design development through to installation, commissioning, and handover, with a strong emphasis on electrical building services and coordination. The successful candidate will also be responsible for compliance with relevant UK regulations.
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer role will involve:
Produce and review electrical designs for commercial and industrial projects
Work independently and manage own workload
Prepare technical reports and specifications
Carry out Part L energy assessments and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations
Review and verify designs before construction
Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure the builder’s work requirements are met
Support project delivery through to installation and commissioning
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes:
Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within Building Services
Able to work independently
Solid understanding of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems
Knowledge of Part L assessments and energy compliance
Knowledge of Stage 4 design and construction coordination
Good communication and coordination skills
