How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Commissioning Engineer - Transmission Substation Project
    Location: Beauly (IV4 7BG), Scotland
    Sector: Power Transmission / T&D
    Job Type: Contract
    Start Date: 13/4/26
    Duration: Approx. 7 weeks (350 hours total)
    Hours: 10 hours per day / 50 hours per week
    Positions Available: 1

    The Role:
    We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support works on a major transmission substation project in Beauly.

    This role will focus heavily on protection relay testing within 132kV-275kV substations, working within a live HV transmission environment on a critical UK infrastructure scheme.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out commissioning and testing of protection and control systems
    Perform protection relay testing on 132kV-275kV substations.
    Ensure all commissioning activities are completed in line with project specifications and standards
    Work closely with site teams, engineers, and supervisors to deliver works safely and efficiently
    Complete commissioning documentation and test records accurately
    Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
    Key Requirements:

    Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within transmission substations
    Strong background in protection relay testing (132kV-275kV)
    Experience working on live National Grid / SSEN / transmission environments
    Ability to interpret technical drawings and relay schemes
    Strong understanding of commissioning procedures and safety standards
    Certifications & Authorisations:

    SSEN C1 Authorisation (preferred)
    National Grid / SSEN / DNO authorisations
    Substation access certifications (BESC, Persons, etc.)
    Pay: £90/Hour
    Additional Information:
    No travel or per diem included
