How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Learning Mentor - Swindon
    Secondary School | Immediate Start
    Pay: £85-£100 per day

    Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? Are you an experienced Learning Mentor or looking to take the next step in a rewarding role? If so, this opportunity could be perfect for you.

    Academics Ltd are supporting a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Swindon that is seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to support students with additional and complex needs. You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis, helping them build confidence, engage with education, and feel safe and supported.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide tailored academic and emotional support to students.
    Act as a positive role model, promoting confidence, resilience, and independence.
    Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
    Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
    Support behaviour management and help students overcome barriers to learning.
    Work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised support strategies.

    Ideal Candidate

    Experience working with young people in an educational or mentoring setting (desirable but not essential).
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach.
    Calm and resilient, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour.
    Well-organised and reliable.
    Holds a valid DBS on the update service or is willing to obtain one.
