How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Service Engineer
    Field-Based | South East England
    Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 + Overtime + Door-to-Door Pay + Company Vehicle + Healthcare + Pension
    Are you an experienced Service Engineer looking to join a well-established engineering business specialising in the inspection, servicing and maintenance of specialist access equipment?
    This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market-leading engineering organisation supporting a wide range of commercial and industrial customers across the South East. The role is primarily field based, giving you the autonomy to manage your own workload while delivering a high standard of service on customer sites.
    The Role
    As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, fault finding and maintenance of specialist access equipment. Working both independently and alongside the wider engineering team, you'll ensure equipment remains safe, compliant and fully operational.
    Key Responsibilities for service engineer
    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs.
    * Diagnose and fault find on electrical and PLC control systems.
    * Service, inspect and commission specialist access equipment.
    * Provide technical support and recommendations to customers.
    * Liaise with suppliers and assist with sourcing replacement components.
    * Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
    * Complete service documentation and reports accurately.
    * Maintain excellent customer relationships through professional service delivery..
    About You
    To be successful in this role you will have:
    * Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer or Maintenance Engineer.
    * Experience working on specialist access equipment, lifting equipment, Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) or similar electromechanical systems.
    * Electrical fault-finding experience, ideally including PLC diagnostics or modification of existing programmes.
    * Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
    * Experience working safely at height.
    * The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
    * Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    * A full UK driving licence.
    Desirable Experience
    Applications are particularly welcomed from engineers with experience in:
    * Building Maintenance Units (BMUs)
    * Cranes or lifting equipment
    * Access platforms
    * Industrial doors
    * Hoists
    * Offshore engineering
    * Royal Navy, RAF or Army REME engineering backgrounds
    * Industrial electrical maintenance
    What's on Offer
    £38,000 - £45,000 basic salary.
    Realistic OTE of £55,000+.
    Door-to-door pay.
    Overtime paid at:
    Time and a half Monday to Friday.
    Double time on Saturdays and Sundays.
    Overtime payable after 9.5 hours worked per day.
