How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Overview

    Join Gallagher Bassett at our Ipswich Waterfront Offices as a Trainee Travel Claims Handler. This is a full-time, office-based role where you’ll receive comprehensive training to build your career in insurance. You’ll learn how to handle a variety of travel insurance claims, from lost luggage to medical expenses, while providing exceptional support to customers during challenging times.


    How you'll make an impact

    • Assist with processing travel insurance claims by reviewing documents, assessing coverage, and determining claim outcomes.
    • Communicate with customers via phone and email to gather information, provide updates, and address concerns.
    • Work closely with team members to ensure claims are processed efficiently and accurately.
    • Maintain accurate records of claims and related activities.

    Your work will help customers navigate stressful situations with confidence and clarity, making a real difference in their lives.


    About You

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
    • Strong attention to detail to review and assess claim documentation accurately.
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills to evaluate claim validity and coverage.
    • Empathy and composure when supporting customers in potentially stressful situations.
    • A customer-focused mindset to deliver a positive experience throughout the claims process.
    • Computer literacy and confidence using technology.
    • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
    • Some claims experience or a degree in Law would be advantageous.

    No previous experience is required as full training will be provided. We also offer a clear progression programme and support for professional qualifications.

    Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the UK.
