How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Most technical roles keep you behind a screen.

This one puts you in front of installers, leading the room, solving problems, and being remembered for it.

If you can confidently walk into a room of electricians and earn respect, keep reading.

Technical Training & Applications Specialist (Solar & Storage)

SolaX Power – UK & Ireland

    The Role

This is a customer-facing technical role focused on training, problem-solving, and representing SolaX in the field.

You will lead installer training, support commissioning on-site, and act as a trusted technical presence across the UK and Ireland.

This is not a sales role. Your impact is measured by installer confidence, repeat installations, and long-term relationships.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    Training & Installer Development (Primary)

    • Deliver structured training sessions (10–30 installers)
    • Run sessions at:
    • SolaX training centre (Atherstone – preferred base)
    • Distributor locations
    • Customer sites and events
    • Teach installation, wiring, commissioning, and troubleshooting
    • Adapt HQ training into practical, UK-relevant guidance
    • Deliver hands-on sessions using real systems

    Technical Support & Field Work

    • Support installers with commissioning and fault finding
    • Progress into advanced diagnostics over time
    • Escalate and resolve issues with HQ when required
    • Provide feedback on UK-specific product requirements

    Installer & Partner Engagement

    • Build long-term relationships with installers and distributors
    • Act as a trusted advisor, not a salesperson
    • Confidently guide and challenge installers where needed
    • Support roadshows, demos, and technical events

    Events & Internal Support

    • Build, run, and break down smaller exhibitions/trade events
    • Support sales and marketing activity in the field
    • Contribute to video and social content when required
    • Maintain a professional, organised training environment

    Why Join SolaX

This role offers a clear step beyond being on the tools or working in a purely internal role.

    You will:

    • Become a recognised technical figure within the installer network
    • Work directly with installers across the UK and Ireland
    • Gain exposure to national accounts and real-world installations
    • Operate with high autonomy, managing your own schedule
    • Be visible, respected, and remembered by customers

    Why SolaX

    • Established UK presence for over a decade
    • Strong UK team, warehouse, and stock availability
    • Products designed to be:
    • Easy to install
    • Reliable in real-world use
    • Focus on practical support rather than theory
    • The business continues to take market share through installer experience and product performance.

    What You Gain

    • Variety: training, travel, site work, and events
    • Autonomy: self-managed role with real responsibility
    • Visibility: direct exposure to installers and stakeholders
    •  Influence: shape how installers experience and use SolaX

    What Success Looks Like

    6 months:

    • Running training independently
    • Managing your own schedule
    • Building rapport with installers

    12 months:

    • Recognised and trusted by installers
    • Driving repeat installations through influence
    • A go-to technical presence in the field

    What We’re Looking For

    Core Requirements

    • 2–3+ years in:
    • Solar / renewables / electrical industry
    • OR strong electrical background with customer-facing experience
    • Confident communicator — able to lead a room
    • Experience working directly with customers/installers
    • Full UK driving licence

    Highly Valued

    • Solar + battery experience
    • Training or presentation experience
    • Electrical qualifications (beneficial, not essential)

    Personal Attributes

    • Professional, organised, and reliable
    • Strong presence and communication style
    • Able to build rapport quickly with UK installers
    • Practical, hands-on, and solutions-focused
    • Self-managed and accountable

    Practical Details

    • Location: Atherstone (preferred)
    • Travel split:
    • 40% training centre
    • 20% site work
    • 20% events/distributors
    • 20% general
    • Overnight stays: Every other week (1–2 nights)
    • Vehicle: Car allowance
    • Trailer towing: Required willingness (training available)
    • Expenses: Covered

    Reality of the Role

    •    You will represent SolaX directly in front of customers

    •    You will be expected to manage yourself professionally

    •    You will need to balance being approachable with maintaining standards

    •    This is a practical, field-based role — not desk-based
