How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Civils Supervisor | Highlands & Aberdeen Area | £35–40k + Van + Expenses

    About the Company

A specialist civils and infrastructure contractor operating across Scotland, delivering end-to-end ground works for utility and energy infrastructure programmes. The business works closely with DNOs, local authorities, and programme partners across a range of projects, from streetworks and reinstatement through to larger civils packages. Currently embedded in a significant EV charging rollout across the Highlands and north of Scotland.

    Role Summary

A hands-on Civils Supervisor is required to support the delivery of EV charging infrastructure across the Highlands, Aberdeenshire, and the wider north of Scotland, including the west coast corridor through to Fort William. This is a field-based, doing role. The successful candidate will be out on the ground with their teams daily, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, and in full compliance with current regulations. No EV background is required, civils experience is what counts.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise civils crews on active sites across the programme area, leading by example
    • Oversee streetworks processes including excavation, reinstatement, tarmacking, and council sign-off in line with NRSWA requirements
    • Manage traffic management arrangements and ensure on-site compliance at all times
    • Carry out daily site reports and toolbox talks
    • Ensure all personnel are working safely in line with current H&S legislation, risk assessments, and method statements
    • Monitor scope of works on each site and flag any deviations promptly
    • Liaise with local authorities and council inspectors as required
    • Review contractor documentation and ensure all compliance paperwork is in order
    • Conduct quality checks on reinstatement works to ensure they meet specification

    Requirements

    • Proven civils background with demonstrable site experience
    • Strong understanding of streetworks: excavation, reinstatement, tarmacking, and council approval processes
    • Knowledge of traffic management and on-site H&S compliance
    • Ability to conduct toolbox talks and produce accurate daily reports
    • Full UK driving licence
    • DNO or ductwork experience desirable but not essential
    • Formal civils qualification or degree beneficial but experience will be weighted equally

    Location & Travel

Based in the Highlands or Aberdeen area, Inverness is ideal. The role covers a wide geographic patch including the west coast and Fort William corridor. Candidates should expect to be away 3–4 nights per week; accommodation and expenses are fully covered.

    Package

    • £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
    • Company van provided
    • Accommodation and travel expenses covered
    • Training and upskilling provided on relevant courses
