How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Stoke City Foundation, the official charitable arm of Stoke City Football Club, is seeking a motivated and proactive Community Engagement Officer. As a proud member of the English Football League, the Club's Foundation is dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening communities across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. This pivotal role, based at the bet365 Stadium and other facilities as required, will be key in shaping the future of our community programmes.


    As a key member of the Community Engagement team, reporting directly to the Community Engagement Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the strategic development and operational delivery of community engagement programmes.


    You will provide day to day oversight of delivery areas, support programme coordinators, strengthen local partnerships and help ensure our community provision remains high quality, inclusive and impactful. The role also contributes to departmental growth, including monitoring, evaluation, programme development and driving income generation opportunities to expand our reach and impact.


    The successful candidate will be available to work some evenings and weekends to cover matchday fixtures and other ad hoc events at the bet365 Stadium and across the Foundation’s geographical area. The position will be offered on a full time and permanent basis.


    Main Responsibilities

    • Providing operational support and oversight across community engagement programmes.
    • Supporting the development of initiatives where youth engagement and health and wellbeing intersect.
    • Identifying opportunities for programme improvement, innovation or new project development.
    • Helping ensure programmes remain responsive to local community needs, emerging trends and participant feedback.
    • Supporting data collection, analysis and reporting for programmes, contributing to funder reports and promoting effective use of evaluation tools.
    • Fostering a thriving team environment by supporting workforce planning and identification of staff development needs while promoting a positive and inclusive culture.
    • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with schools, community groups, local organisations and sector partners.
    • Representing the Foundation at key events and developing collaborative pathways to enhance programme impact.
    • Supporting the creation of funding bids and identify new opportunities for growth and sustainability within the department.
    • Upholding quality assurance processes, including observations and feedback and ensuring strict adherence to safeguarding, health and safety, equality and organisational policies.


    Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

    • Experience working within or with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector, understanding community needs and partnership working.
    • Proven experience in writing and securing funding bids.
    • Experience managing or coordinating youth engagement or health and wellbeing programmes.
    • Ability to support, guide or lead teams and coordinate workloads.
    • Strong organisational skills for managing logistics and resources.
    • Demonstrable experience in monitoring performance and contributing to reporting.
    • Confident using digital systems and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
    • Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and equality practices.
    • Relevant qualifications in youth work, community development, public health, education, sport or related fields are desirable.
