Uniserve is a leading provider of innovative supply chain solutions, delivering excellence across global logistics. We're seeking a Night Transport Supervisor to be responsible for the effective control, coordination, and execution of all night transport operations from the Northampton depot.
The role ensures that all planned movements are completed safely, legally, and on time, while maintaining clear communication with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders throughout the night shift.
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 19:00 until 7.00
Please note - there is a Holiday embargo between 1st December until 2nd January
Key Responsibilities:
Transport Operations
- Manage night trunking and delivery operations to meet service levels
- Allocate work and monitor real‑time driver and vehicle activity
- Resolve delays, breakdowns, incidents, and late running
- Record all departures, arrivals, and job updates accurately
Driver Management
- Act as first point of contact for night drivers, providing clear instructions and support
- Ensure compliance with drivers’ hours and working time regulations
- Complete handovers, debriefs, and incident reporting
- Escalate performance, conduct, or compliance issues when required
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure operations follow company policies, site rules, and legal requirements
- Monitor tachograph compliance, rest periods, and vehicle checks
- Record accidents, incidents, near misses, and defects
- Ensure defect reporting and safety processes are followed
Systems & Administration
- Use TMS and associated systems to update job status, PODs, and exceptions
- Maintain accurate night‑shift records and produce clear handover notes
- Highlight issues, delays, and required actions for the day team
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in transport or logistics control, ideally trunking or multi‑drop
- CPC qualification (Transport Management or similar)
- Knowledge of Northampton or regional transport networks
- Strong understanding of drivers’ hours and transport compliance
- Calm, decisive, and effective in a fast‑paced night operation
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
- Confident using TMS, transport systems, and Microsoft Office
- Flexible and reliable for night shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rota
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Professional, firm, and able to work independently
- Team‑focused with a strong sense of responsibility
