How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced Estimator looking to play a key role in winning complex civil engineering and construction projects? We’re recruiting on behalf of a key client for an Estimator to support the successful pricing and delivery of major tenders across the UK infrastructure sector.

Please note this is an office based role, with the flexibility after probation to work flexibly from home 1 day per week.

    The Role

As Estimator, you’ll be responsible for producing detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for tenders and early contractor involvement (ECI) projects. Working closely with Bid Managers, planners, procurement, and technical teams, you’ll help shape winning commercial solutions that balance value, risk, and opportunity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for tenders and budget pricing
    • Work collaboratively with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive and compliant submissions
    • Develop labour, plant, materials, subcontractor, and preliminaries pricing
    • Provide advice on the most cost‑effective design and construction solutions
    • Coordinate with procurement to assess supplier and subcontractor quotations
    • Liaise with planners to align resources, methodology, and programme
    • Contribute to risk and opportunity registers alongside the bid team
    • Present pricing build‑ups at pre‑settlement and settlement meetings
    • Support tender submissions, post‑tender clarifications, and final pricing documentation
    • Prepare handover documents for successful bids and support bid reviews for unsuccessful tenders

    About You

    • Strong background in estimating within civil engineering or construction (minimum 3 year experience)
    • Sound knowledge of UK construction techniques and procurement legislation
    • Commercially aware, with experience across different forms of contract
    • Confident working with estimating software and detailed pricing build‑ups

    What’s on Offer

    • Salary up to ÂŁ70,000
    • Car allowance: ÂŁ5,750
    • Opportunity to work on high‑profile, complex infrastructure projects
    • A professional, supportive environment with clear development opportunities
    • Additional employee benefits, including private health care, free EV charging at the Swindon office and 8% matched pension contributions.
