About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Author with strong S1000D documentation expertise to join the team at BAE Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and maintain S1000D-compliant technical documentation for defence systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and support teams to gather accurate technical information.
- Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and meets BAE Systems quality standards.
- Maintain structured data modules, illustrations, and metadata for compliance with S1000D.
- Support documentation processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Technical Author in the defence or aerospace sector.
- Strong working knowledge of S1000D standards and practices.
- Familiarity with data module creation, content management systems, and illustration integration.
- Excellent technical writing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality outputs on time.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments, ideally with defence contractors.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with BAE Systems projects.
- Knowledge of other technical documentation standards or authoring tools.
