How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager (Reporting to Commercial Manager)
    Major Nuclear Infrastructure Programme – Somerset
    Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Management professional looking to step into a high‑profile role on one of the UK’s most complex and nationally significant infrastructure programmes?
    We are supporting a leading engineering and construction organisation delivering a critical package of works on a major nuclear project in Somerset. Following a recent team change, the project is now looking for a senior, delivery‑focused commercial position, reporting directly into an established Commercial Manager.
    This role offers long‑term project security, exposure to a flagship programme, and the opportunity to play a key part in commercial delivery without stepping away from hands‑on project involvement.
    Why this role stands out
    * Flagship, technically complex nuclear project
    * Senior role within the on‑site commercial team
    * Clear reporting line and support from an experienced Commercial Manager
    * Flexible working pattern rarely offered at this level (9‑day fortnight available)
    * Long‑term project continuity and stability
    Salary, Benefits & Working Pattern
    * Salary: Up to £85,000
    * Car Allowance: £5,780
    * Annual Leave: 26 days
    * Working Pattern: 9‑day fortnight or standard 5‑day working week
    Benefits Package
    * Private healthcare (individual cover from day one)
    * Life assurance: 4 × annual salary
    * Pension: 5.75% employer contribution
    * Long‑term role on a major UK infrastructure programme
    The Role
    Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will play a senior role in the day‑to‑day commercial management of a major element of the project.
    Your responsibilities will include:
    * Supporting commercial strategy and contractual compliance for a defined project scope
    * Managing cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting
    * Preparing and agreeing applications for payment and valuations
    * Assisting with variations, change management and entitlement
    * Supporting final account preparation and negotiations
    * Managing commercial aspects of supply‑chain packages
    * Identifying and managing commercial risk and opportunity
    * Working closely with site and delivery teams to ensure cost certainty
    This role suits someone who wants senior responsibility and influence, while remaining close to delivery rather than stepping into a purely governance‑focused position.
    About You
    You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial professional with:
    * A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
    * Strong experience on large construction or infrastructure projects
    * Practical working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
    * Confidence working in high‑value, complex project environments
    * The ability to engage effectively with delivery teams and senior stakeholders
    Experience in nuclear or other regulated environments is advantageous but not essential as strong transferable infrastructure experience will be considered.
    The Opportunity
    If you are looking for:
    * A senior role with real responsibility but clear commercial support
    * Long‑term project security on a respected UK programme
    * Flexibility that supports work‑life balance at senior level
    This position offers a rare blend of delivery focus, stability and progression within a flagship infrastructure project
