Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Somerset for a Senior Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will be required to perform a range of advanced professional accounting activities, and provide financial advice and guidance, to support in delivering a comprehensive accounting and advisory service to budget holders, project managers and decision makers. 

Key Responsibilities
Provide expert financial advice and guidance to senior leaders and stakeholders, ensuring informed decision-making on financial implications.
Lead on the preparation and management of revenue and/or capital budgets, aligning financial planning with strategic objectives
Monitor financial performance, identifying risks and variances, and working collaboratively to implement solutions
Prepare statutory accounts and financial reports, including presenting to committees and governance bodies
Review legislative changes and evaluate the impact on financial policies, guidelines and protocols.Candidate Criteria
Fully qualified accountant
Significant experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial analysis within a complex organisation
Strong knowledge of public sector finance, legislation, and regulatory requirements
Proven ability to influence, communicate, and build relationships with senior stakeholders
