How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Controls Engineer

    📍 Near Huddersfield (Hybrid Working) | 💼 Full-time | 💰 £40,000 – £60,000 + Benefits

    We are working with a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer based near Huddersfield, delivering specialist equipment and solutions into highly regulated and technical industries.

    Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Controls Engineer to support the development of advanced control systems across their product range.

    🔧 The Role

    As a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, programming, and development of control systems for bespoke engineered solutions.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * PLC programming and development (from scratch and modification)

    * Design and implementation of control systems for specialist equipment

    * Commissioning and testing of systems (on-site and occasionally at customer sites)

    * Working closely with mechanical and electrical design teams

    * Supporting continuous improvement and innovation in control strategies

    * Troubleshooting and fault-finding on existing systems

    🧠 What We’re Looking For

    * Experience in PLC programming (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar)

    * Background in controls system design and development

    * Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

    * Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment

    * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

    * Ability to work effectively in a hybrid role (office + remote)

    ⭐ Desirable

    * HMI/SCADA experience

    * Knowledge of automation systems or special purpose machinery

    * Experience with commissioning

    * Experience working within regulated or high-spec environments
