Our client in Devizes is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Test Technician to join their dynamic team. This is a hands-on role, focused on diagnosing and repairing electronic and electromechanical assemblies at the component level.
Electronics Test Technician Roles and Responsibilities:
* Diagnose faults and repair PCBs and electronic assemblies, often with limited documentation
* Read circuit diagrams and identify components: resistors, capacitors, transistors (BJT/FET), op-amps, comparators, logic gates. Familiarity with microprocessors, memory, I/O, and programmable logic is a plus
* Recognise circuit types (oscillators, power supplies/converters, amplifiers) and differentiate analogue vs. digital circuits
* Perform professional soldering/desoldering of surface-mount and through-hole components
* Use common test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, and bench power supplies
* Independently diagnose and replace faulty components; collaboration on approach is encouraged, but technicians are expected to work autonomously
* Maintain accurate computer-based records and test repaired units to ensure reliability
Electronics Test Technician Ideal Candidate:
* Hands-on experience in component-level fault finding and repair is essential; relevant electronics qualifications are advantageous
* Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit operation, and the ability to identify and repair both analogue and digital circuits
* Able to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative, problem-solving skills, and good judgment
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
* Knowledge of embedded software/firmware is useful but not required
* Excellent communicator, comfortable with computer-based record keeping
Electronics Test Technician Working Hours:
* Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (37.5 hours per week)
