Our Newark based Client is seeking a Goods-in / Forklift Operative on a ongoing temporary basis. As the Goods In Operative, you will be responsible for the safe handling of all types of unpacked and un-palletised customer owned equipment of all shapes and sizes! You will be responsible for the safe loading and securing of the packed timber cases to various types of vehicles.
The Role
The Goods-in / Forklift Operative will need to demonstrate the ability of driving a forklift to the highest of standards and with attention to detail whilst being able to operate in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. With appropriate training, the role will include the following duties:
* Loading/unloading vehicles by way of “hand-balling,” Forklift or Crane
* Loading shipping Containers including blocking with timber and lashing within the allocated time
* Marshalling and organising incoming delivery and collection vehicles from curtain/flat beds to specialised over-sized trailers
* Maintaining yard cleanliness
* Regular basic plant maintenance
* Regular effective communication with the office and ensuring relative paperwork is handed to drivers
The Candidate
The successful Goods-in / Forklift Operative will need to be:
* Certified to operate a Counterbalance Forklift with at least an SWL of 5,000 Kg
* Physically fit as the role will require heavy lifting and manual handling on a daily basis
* Flexible in their approach to time management of breaks to suit delivery and collection vehicles
* Available for often, short notice overtime for early/late vehicles etc
* Regularly available for midweek overtime and occasional weekends
* Able to work alone for long periods as time (as well as within a small team)
