How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Looking for a role where you can combine your technical knowledge with customer-facing work?

    We’re recruiting on behalf of a global engineering business specialising in materials testing equipment, with customers and partners worldwide. Available due to internal promotion & business growth, this is an excellent opportunity for an engineering-minded professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, customer interaction and travel!

    Please note: This is a fully on-site role based in Crawley. Candidates must live within commuting distance and hold a full UK driving licence.

    The Role:
    You’ll support customers across the UK and internationally, providing technical demonstrations, installations, servicing and training on high-performance analytical instrumentation (OES / LIBS). The role combines engineering know-how with relationship-building and commercial awareness.
    Key Responsibilities
    Deliver technical demonstrations, installations and customer training
    Provide on-site and remote technical support and servicing
    Support customers and distributors across the UK and internationally
    Assist with product trials, commissioning and customer acceptance
    Act as a technical point of contact between customers and the wider business
    Person Specification:

    Engineering, Physics or Science-based qualification
    Hands-on experience with testing instrumentation (ideally OES or LIBS)
    Confident communicator with a customer-focused mindset
    Enjoys travel and working directly with customers
    Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
    The Package:

    Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
    £32,000 – £35,000pa salary (DOE)
