How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Operations Supervisor
    Salary: £28,683 per annum
    Contract: Permanent
    Work Pattern: This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours, 5 days from 7, including weekend and bank holiday working
    Location: WWT Caerlaverock, DG1

    About The Role

    Caerlaverock is a stunning nature reserve situated on the north Solway coast. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Operations & Facilities Supervisor to join our small team.

    This post will suit someone with skills in managing all aspects of a self-catering accommodation, operations, building maintenance, contract management and operational aspects of a visitor attraction.

    They would also be inspired by working on one of the best nature reserves in Scotland.

    About You

    The successful candidate will be motivated by working on a amazing site rich in wildlife surrounded by a stunning landscape. They will be flexible, great at problem solving and with a can do attitude. And have really good people skills.

    * Educated to A level standard or equivalent qualification or experience

    * Full, current driving licence

    We are looking for someone with ability to:

    * Experience of managing contractors undertaking maintenance, repair or cleaning contracts

    * Ability to coordinate and deliver small-scale projects on time and within set resources

    * Experience of working in a customer/visitor-facing setting and ability to engage positively with the public to promote work of WWT and Caerlaverock

    * Experience of operating self-catering holiday accommodation

    * Demonstrable passion for nature conservation and sustainable site management.

    * Day-to-day responsibility for maintenance and safe use of built infrastructure, habitats, visitor facilities and equipment.

    * Ability to think creatively and assist the Centre and Reserve Manager with forward planning and problem solving
