How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Design Engineer – Laboratory Equipment – Portsmouth – LM1245a

    Job Outline:

    Now is an exciting time to join a world leading supplier of Laboratory Equipment as their Lead Electrical Design Engineer at their Portsmouth facility.

    As Lead Electrical Engineer you will assume responsibility for the electrical design and also manage and lead the product development projects.

    You will take responsibility for electrical design projects from the initial customer meetings, through the electrical design process, and on to manufacturing, project completion and final delivery to customers.

    Within the role, you will create bespoke electrical designs using SolidWorks Electrical, as well as generate and update BOM’s and other design and manufacturing documentation as required.

    On a daily basis you will collaborate with other designers and departments to clarify specifications and translate technical requirements into structured modular designs.

    As the lead Engineer, you will work closely with all key stakeholders to manage the full project life cycle, ensuring delivery on time, in budget and on cost.

    Within the role, you will create accurate electrical designs within specified timelines, ensuring compliance with company standards and relevant market standards (e.g., EN standards).

    You will also provide technical support to sales, support internal teams and customers with electrical questions and project status updates.

    Experience:

    It is expected that you will have a minimum of an HNC or higher in a relevant electrical subject, along with experience of Electrical design software.

    Candidates must be resident in the UK and be eligible to live and work in UK. Copies of Passports and Visas will be requested for verification.
