How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Handle reactive maintenance issues and daytime emergency callouts (e.g. power loss), including basic client guidance on fault finding (e.g. tripped RCBOs)

Prepare pricing for small works, remedial tasks, EICRs, and installation projects

Conduct site surveys for larger small works packages to produce accurate and competitive quotations

Monitor and manage the performance of small works engineers to ensure high-quality workmanship

Ensure all works comply with health & safety regulations and NICEIC certification standards

Manage claims, invoicing, and notify accounts when works are ready for billing

Raise job numbers for both small works and main projects

Maintain and regularly update the main works job chart for accurate tracking

Understand engineer capabilities to allocate work effectively based on strengths and experience

Log NICEIC Building Control Notifications via the NICEIC portal following certification

Support engineers requiring reactive maintenance or callout assistance on wider projects

Key Responsibilities – Buyer & Procurement

Order materials and equipment for small works and support main project procurement

Send site requisitions to wholesalers, carry out price comparisons, and place orders

Convert engineer material requests into purchase orders and issue to suppliers

Ensure timely delivery of materials to maintain site productivity and avoid delays

Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure reliable service

Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen the supply chain

Carry out occasional store duties, including receiving deliveries and labelling stock

Arrange repairs, servicing, and calibration of test equipment and tools

Organise plant hire and access equipment as required

Occasionally collect and deliver materials to sites when necessary

    Qualifications & Knowledge

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel

Good understanding of construction and electrical environments

Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

Strong organisational ability, with experience managing multiple small works projects alongside procurement responsibilities

NICEIC Qualifying Manager status or C&G 2391 (advantageous)

Willingness to progress into the role of NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor for small works certification sign-off

    Full UK driving licence
