How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Vehicle Preparation Technician / MOT Tester
    Location: Birmingham
    Salary: £28,000 Basic | OTE £33,600

    We are currently recruiting for a Vehicle Preparation Technician to join a busy main dealer prep centre in Birmingham. This is a fast-paced environment focused on preparing vehicles to the highest standard for retail, offering consistent workflow and strong earning potential. If you have experience in a main car dealer, independent garage or workshop as a a mechanic or MOT Tester we would love to hear from you!
    This role would suit a technician who takes pride in their work, thrives in a team environment, and is looking for stability within a professional dealership setting.

    Your Responsibilities as Vehicle Preparation Technician
    ·Carrying out servicing, repairs, and general maintenance on a wide range of vehicles
    ·Completing preperation work efficiently to meet dealership standards and deadlines
    ·Conducting inspections and identifying additional work where required
    ·Ensuring all work is completed to manufacturer and safety standards
    ·Accurately completing job cards and service documentation
    ·Supporting the workshop team to maintain productivity and quality

    What We're Looking For As Vehicle Preparation Technician
    ·NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
    ·Minimum 2 years' experience as a Vehicle Technician
    ·MOT Tester licence (Class 4) desirable but not essential
    ·Own tools and toolbox
    ·Full UK manual driving licence
    ·Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
    ·Strong work ethic and attention to detail
