How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    LANDSCAPE/WORKS MANAGER

    Our client is a dynamic and expanding commercial landscape business which covers, highways to ecology to large commercial projects.

    They now require a Landscape/Works Manager to work out of there main offices in East Sussex.

    Main purpose of job: To oversee and coordinate a wide range of activities across our operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance. The Works Manager will be responsible for managing the logistics and resources on-site, performing regular site visits, managing procurement processes, handling frontline HR responsibilities, and overseeing various aspects of contract and fleet management. The successful candidate will work closely with teams to ensure high standards of performance and compliance are maintained throughout the operations.

    Site Visits (Scoping):

    Conduct regular site visits to assess project requirements, perform risk assessments, and provide accurate scoping reports.

    Liaise with stakeholders to gather information, ensure alignment with project goals, and evaluate site conditions.

    Rota Management:

    Develop and maintain efficient work rotas to ensure optimal staffing levels and smooth operations across sites.

    Ensure coverage for all shifts, manage holiday/sick leave, and handle unforeseen changes to rosters.

    Frontline HR:

    Act as the first point of contact for frontline staff, addressing concerns, providing support, and facilitating communication between teams and management.

    Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.

    Ensure completion of return to work/annual leave forms and submission to HR.

    Ensure staff take annual leave within the leave year in conjunction with HR.

    Appraisals:

    Conduct regular performance appraisals for direct reports, providing constructive feedback and development plans.

    Ensure team members are meeting performance standards and are properly supported in achieving their goals.

    Back to Work Interviews:

    Manage the back-to-work process for staff returning from illness or absence, ensuring proper documentation and addressing any concerns.

    Collaborate with HR to track attendance and manage any disciplinary matters.

    Contract Management Process:

    Oversee the contract lifecycle, ensuring all contractual obligations are met on time and within budget. Liaising with contracts Manager as required.

    Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during contract execution.

    Liaise with clients and contractors to resolve any contract-related issues.

    Equipment and Fleet Management:

    Support the management and maintenance of the company’s equipment and fleet, ensuring all vehicles and machinery are operational and compliant with safety regulations, as well as booking equipment out for services etc alongside Fleet Co-ordinator

    Coordinate regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs, and ensure that all required documentation is up to date. Providing details to Fleet Co-ordinator for accurate record keeping.

    Procurement:

    Oversee the procurement of materials, tools, and services required for site operations.

    Ensure purchase orders are raised accurately on Procore.

    Ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards by adherence to authorised supplier lists.

    Manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to contractual terms.

    Site Audits:

    Conduct regular site audits to ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

    Offer feedback and implement corrective actions when required. Collaborate with the compliance department to document and establish best practices.

    Training Needs:

    Identify training requirements for staff and coordinate the development and delivery of training programs with HR to minimise impact on operations.

    Ensure all employees are trained on relevant systems, safety protocols, and best practices. Raising any non-compliance with HR.

    Compliance:

    Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, legal requirements, and company policies.

    Monitor and report on compliance issues openly and recommend corrective actions and work with the compliance team when necessary.

    PPE (Personal Protective Equipment):

    Ensure that all staff are provided with and use the correct personal protective equipment as required for each task. Raising requisition for new items are required to the compliance team.

    Stores Management:

    Oversee the storage, inventory, and distribution of materials, tools, and equipment.

    Ensure effective stock management to avoid shortages and wastage, and maintain records of all supplies.

    Timesheets:

    Oversee the accurate and timely submission of timesheets for all employees.

    Review and approve timesheets to ensure they are compliant with company policies and contractual agreements.

    RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements):

    Create, review, and monitor the implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all on-site activities. Ensuring RAMS have been authorised by the compliance team.

    Ensure that all activities are carried out safely, with clear procedures in place for high-risk tasks.

    Customer:

    Ensure all interactions with Customer (end user/members of the public) are courteous and raised to the HR Director for logging and where necessary resolution
