How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Primary Teaching Assistant - ELSA - Newham
    Full Time | Term Time Only | ASAP Start
    Long Term Role (Temp to Perm) | Competitive Daily Rate

    Long Term Futures are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant (ELSA) to join a primary school in Newham, supporting pupils with emotional literacy and wellbeing needs.

    This role is ideal for someone with experience as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) or a strong background in supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them develop emotional awareness, resilience and positive coping strategies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Deliver ELSA interventions to support emotional wellbeing
    Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
    Support children in developing emotional regulation and social skills
    Work closely with class teachers, SENCo and pastoral teams
    Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
    Support pupils both in lessons and during intervention sessions Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Experience working as an ELSA or in a similar pastoral/SEND role
    Strong understanding of SEMH and emotional literacy support
    A calm, nurturing and patient approach
    Confidence working in a primary school setting
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    Understanding of safeguarding and child protection Location & Transport - Newham, East London

    Close to Canning Town (Jubilee Line & DLR) and East Ham / Plaistow (District Line)
