How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    An excellent opportunity has arisen to play a key role in a unique team, supporting the work of Counter Terrorism Policing.

    In this role, you will undertake technical processes in the retrieval, evaluation and viewing of CCTV and other evidential imagery to the highest possible standard in order to support counter terrorism, national security and criminal investigations for customers both within the policing family and externally.

    In order to be considered for this role you must have a suitable formal qualification in an imaging or ICT subject or proven experience working in an associated field and must also be CBRN/DVI trained or have an ability and willingness to successfully complete this training.

    Eligible candidates will have proven working knowledge in video and audio technology and have a fundamental understanding of computer hardware. In addition the ideal candidate will have the ability to demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety issues and knowledge/understanding of the practical application of the Data Protection Act, RIPA and ECHR. Candidates will also come with an awareness of computer parts/programs with the ability to maintain a computerised management information system and an ability to organise, assess and evaluate information quickly and accurately in high pressure situations using interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills.

    A knowledge and understanding of the practical application of Terrorism legislation in relation to CCTV work, experience of liaising with commercial institutions and partnership agencies plus an aptitude for problem solving in a methodical and orderly manner is also required.

    You must also have a willingness and ability to work unsociable hours and participate in call-out rota if required and to work within a 24-hour cover period, to work in any area in the CTP region and outside this area if required, possibly for extended periods in difficult situations such as extreme weather conditions.

    In addition, you must hold a full current UK/European driving licence and have the ability to pass the police driving test.
