How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
    We are seeking a proactive and detail‑focussed Payroll & Finance Officer to join a well loved local not‑for‑profit organisation in Stockton-on-Tees. This is a key role within the finance team, supporting the smooth running of day‑to‑day financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial processing.
    Your new role
    The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll and purchase ledger experience, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work confidently with financial systems and Excel.Key Responsibilities
    Payroll (End-to-End)

    Manage the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll.
    Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, NI, pension contributions, etc.).
    Handle payroll queries and liaise with internal stakeholders as needed.Purchase Ledger

    Process purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding, approvals, and timely payment.
    Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
    Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date supplier records.Posting Journals & Financial Processing

    Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments.
    Assist with month‑end and year‑end processes.
    Support reconciliations across key balance sheet accounts.Finance Support

    Provide general finance administration and support across the team.
    Assist with budgeting, reporting, and financial data analysis where required.
    Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
    What you'll need to succeed
    Essential

    Proven experience in end‑to‑end payroll.
    Strong purchase ledger experience.
    Good Excel skills (e.g., lookups, formulas, pivots desirable).
    High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Desirable

    A relevant finance qualification (e.g., AAT or similar).
    Experience using Sage (Sage 50, Sage Payroll, or Sage Intacct).What you'll get in return
