How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Site Manager

    Thatcham | 80-week programme | £300 - £350 per day or £60,000 - £70,000 + travel

If you are a Mechanical Site Manager who prefers running a job properly rather than inheriting a mess and firefighting your way through it, this is the sort of role that will suit you.

This position is on a sizeable secure project in Thatcham, where the mechanical package sits at around £10m. It is the kind of scheme that needs proper site leadership, strong coordination and someone who can keep standards high while works move at pace. You will not be there to simply observe progress and update someone else’s paperwork. You will be there to drive the mechanical delivery on site, keep subcontractors moving, maintain quality, and make sure the programme is being protected day to day.

The project itself gives the role some weight. It is a long programme at around 80 weeks, which offers far more stability than the stop-start contract churn a lot of Site Managers end up dealing with. It also sits within a secure environment, so this is not a soft appointment for someone who only works well when everything is straightforward. You will need to be organised, visible on site and confident managing the realities of a live construction programme where access, compliance, sequencing and communication all matter.

What makes the role worth looking at is the level of ownership. You will be the person overseeing the mechanical installation on site from early coordination through to commissioning and handover support. That means managing labour, driving subcontractors, checking progress against programme, keeping on top of quality, and making sure the works are being delivered safely and in line with specification. You will be working closely with the Project Manager and wider team, but this is still very much a site leadership role rather than a desk-based support function.

You will need to understand how to run mechanical building services packages in a structured way. That includes coordinating plant and materials, managing site logistics, tracking progress, dealing with technical issues as they arise and keeping the installation aligned with the programme. You should be comfortable working across HVAC and general mechanical services, and you should know how to keep pressure on delivery without losing control of quality or safety.

This will suit someone who has already worked as a Mechanical Site Manager or a strong Mechanical Supervisor stepping into a bigger position. Experience on secure, regulated or heavily controlled environments would help, but the main thing is whether you can lead mechanical works on site properly and keep the package moving. You need to be someone who communicates clearly, spots problems early and is not afraid to take responsibility for pushing the job on.

The package is flexible depending on what suits you best, with the client open to either a day rate of £300 to £350 or a permanent salary of £60,000 to £70,000 plus travel. For the right person, it is a good opportunity to take ownership of a major mechanical package on a long-running project with a contractor that needs someone who can genuinely deliver
