Internal Tools Software Engineer

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to help dramatically accelerate the development of this companies’ bleeding edge engineering products. You’ll work closely with engineers across manufacturing, aerodynamics, mechanical, electronics and software to build internal tools where existing solutions are too slow, too expensive, or simply don’t exist.
 
This Software Engineer role sits at the centre of design, manufacturing, prototyping and data, building tools that remove bottlenecks and enable elite teams to move faster and smarter.
 
This is not a maintenance role. You’ll work with the best engineers in Cambridge to identify real problems, design solutions end‑to‑end, and ship tools that directly improve engineering throughput and quality.
 
The position is office based in Central Cambridge, walking distance from the train station.
 
You’ll have a high degree of autonomy, moving quickly either independently or in very small teams.
 
Internal Tools Software Engineer essential requirements

Strong software engineering ability
Background in another discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Electronics, Product Design, Manufacturing
Something exceptional in your background, achievements or projects
Experience owning problems end‑to‑end
Interest in building tools that support real-world hardware engineering
Use of AI assistants 
Internal Tools Software Engineer desirable skills

Internal tooling, developer tools or infrastructure experience
Cloud or systems experience (ideally AWS)
Startup or high‑performance engineering environment
TypeScript, Python, SQL
Integrating with third-party platforms, apps, APIs/SDKs, plugins, CLIs, etc
